FAQ: Your most frequently asked questions – our answers

We follow a three-step approach in the manufacture of your packaging solution:

  1. Thorough briefing: First of all we’ll need various information from you. What products is the packaging supposed to accommodate? Are there special requirements? etc.
  2. Modelling and digital prototyping of the packaging: Taking the information from the briefing as a basis, we will proceed to craft a tailor-made packaging solution for you, employing state-of-the-art software. Our experts will create an illustrative 3D model for you.
  3. Prototype creation and testing: If you’re satisfied with our model, we’ll make a prototype of the packaging for you, which is then put to a number of tests. Afterwards, the packaging is produced in the desired quantity.

Digital model of your packaging (incl. digital prototyping)

We design a digital packaging solution for you that reflects your expectations, needs and requirements. In this process, our experts will use the latest CAD software.

Prototype creation and test runs

To have a look at a digital model is not quite the same as seeing the actual, finished packaging. This is why we subsequently make a prototype for your inspection. This is a preproduction model of the actual packaging and must pass certain tests. We examine the transport and/or sales packaging for stability, practicability, and quality.

Our packaging solutions are all manufactured at our plants in JĂĽlich and Rodenberg.

GISSLER & PASS produces transport and sales packaging solutions consisting of corrugated board.
These are mostly secondary packaging materials that are not directly exposed to the product they hold. The food industry is among the principal sectors we serve.

Packaging types can also be clustered according to application, e.g.:

  • shelf-ready packaging (single- or multipart packaging, solutions with preassembled cover and tray to be opened on site without the need for tools; simple, perforated cuts; assortment boxes; manual packaging; automated packaging);

We produce everything for you, from standard packages out of the FEFCO catalogue right up to tailor-made, highly functional packaging concepts.

Most of our packaging products are made from corrugated board.

  • Corrugated board: More than two third of all products made in Germany are delivered in corrugated board transport packages to recipients at home and abroad.
  • A mix of materials: To capture the attention of customers and create incentives to buy, we at GISSLER & PASS like to incorporate refinements and material mixes in our sales packaging solutions, such as foil for windows combined with corrugated board.
  • Hygiene Flute®: Made of wastepaper-free, fully bleached white kraftliner paper, our Hygiene Flute® enjoys popularity in the food industry and is preferred by the hard discount segment for shelf-ready solutions, thus offering a real alternative to conventional solid-fibre cardboard. It fulfils the requirements of the EC Regulation 1935/2004 (materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, traceability) and EU Regulation 2023/2006 (GMP in manufacturing).
  • Gras Paper: Packaging made of grass paper as an alternative raw material for paper production is in line with the ecological requirements of our time. Grass is a quickly regenerating raw material. Packaging made of this material helps you save resources and advance your corporate philosophy of ecological sustainability.

Each packaging solution is custom-made. Therefore, we can only give you an estimate of the production time if we know the details of your project. We will tell you the approximate delivery date before the production starts, of course taking account of your time schedule.
